The Amazing

Easily my favorite band only behind Tame Impala. These guys make 60's 70's psych-folk-rock and they do it with originality. Two of the band members are actually in Dungen. This song is off their first full length and I just got my hands on it thanks to an eMusic trial. I couldn't find it anywhere else, so good luck. If I had the money I would own all their albums on vinyl and cd and mp3, that's how AMAZING they are.  (sorry I couldn't resist). Sung in English ,as are all their songs, this track sounds like a Neil Young/David Crosby collaboration when they were really on their game. Christoffer Gunrup's vocals swirl and glide throughout in a dreamy, grass induced haze. Its like he was born to sing this kind of music.

This one comes off of their ep "Wait for a Light to Come". The whole album is great. There's definitely a coastal feel to every song. Another tough one to find. More ear caressing vocals, glistening guitar chords, and shimming percussion, very uplifting. Makes me feel like riding a wave in slo-mo. This song, my god. Just listen to it. The album "Gentle Stream" is fantastic. Flashlight and International Hair are my other two standout tracks. You're most likely to find this one with some persistent searching. Buy them if you can afford it though.

Born Into Magic

i am the womb of every holt,
i am the blaze on every hill,
i am the queen of every hive,
i am the shield for every head,
i am the tomb of every hope..
who, but I, gives birth to all that was, is and shall be?

This song is a huge inspiration for me lately. Good for deep thought.

These things I'll be

I absolutely adore the Beach Boys. They are just wonderful. There's nothing like vocal harmony perfection. This song is probably my favourite song from them. I feel like the early 70's catalogue doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

Rocksucker blog said it best when describing this song. Here's a quote from their blog about the song.
"'Till I Die" is on the very top rung of Brian songs, an awe-inspiring snapshot of still life on Earth, frozen in time ("I'm a rock in a landslide / Rolling over the mountainside / How deep is the valley?) - in fact, how this song is not more broadly known is a damning indictment on our planet. This is the kind of song around which everything melts away while it's playing, the kind of song that takes all of the beauty, pain, mystery and love in the world and bottles it all up as an offering to a higher plain on behalf of all humankind, a blown-minded response to the crazy world around us and very conceivably the music you might feel inside yourself if you were isolated on an island, looking out to sea as the sky turns orange and leaves dance past you in a caressing breeze...

There's food and shelter and water...

Ya dig?

how the past looks at you

Get with the fucking program man and listen to White Fence. He's got a bit of a Lennon-esque voice, which is always good. Plus its super psychedelic. Might be a little tougher finding the album, but I have faith in you. -M

You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.

I don't even know what to say about this movie. Its one of my absolute favorites (thanks Dad). It just might be the best western ever made. If you've never seen it, my god...what have you been doing? The soundtrack is just as epic as the film. This song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. -M

I don't know what took me so long but I'm just getting into these guys. -M

com truise - sundriped

not sure if the artist made this video or if some fan made it. either way I dig. (surfing footage from bali in 1978!)

I drank a star...

The Aliens. Woah ho ho ho! I can't believe its taken me this long to listen to them. So so good. This particular track sounds like the Moody Blues at their best. Very psychedelic album, the whole record is great. I want more! I found it on the pirate bay torrent search engine. -M

Ruler of the Night

Something a little different from me. Dark, dreamy and a slightly evil. -M

Children of the Moon

Surprisingly, I'm not a real big Flaming Lips fan. They're a great band, just doesn't really click. However!, when they did a track with Tame Impala I had to hear it and I loved it. The best part is it sounds like equal parts of both musicians and they blend perfectly. It would be super cool if they did a whole album together, The Flaming Lips have already done it once I believe, remaking Dark Side of the Moon. -M

Moon Duo - Mazes
